Coomeets

Comets are celestial bodies that revolve around the sun forming an oval orbit. Comets consist of a collection of freezing dust and gases, but if they pass close to the sun, they will melt then vaporize.

Komet adalah benda langit yang mengelilingi matahari dengan garis edar atau orbit yang berbentuk lonjong. Komet terdiri atas kumpulan debu dan gas yang membeku,tetapi apabila mendekati matahari akan mencair lalu menguap.

A comet is often called a hairy star, because when the comet moves, at the back part of it there is a gas spurt like a tail the length of which can reach millions of kilometers.


Komet sering disebut sebagai bintang berekor, karena ketika komet bergerak, pada bagian belakangnya terdapat semburan gas yang menyerupai ekor dengan panjang bias mencapai jutaan kilometer.



A comet consists of several parts, those are a core, coma,hydrogen layer, and tail. The core is material in the form of very dense carbon compound.

Sebuah komet terdiri dari beberapa bagian yaitu, inti, koma, lapisan hydrogen, dan ekor. Inti merupakan bahan yg berupa senyawa karbon yg sangat padat.


Coma is the atmosphere that is formed as the effect of ice materials that change to gas. Comet’s tail is made up of gases vapour of icy materials that are heated by the sun. The closer to the sun, a comet’s tail is getting longer and its direction always moves away from the sun


Koma merupakan atmosfer yg terbentuk akibat adanya penguapan bahan-bahan es yang berubah menjadi gas. Ekor komet merupakan gas-gas hasil penguapan bahan-bahan es yg terpanasi matahari. Semakin dekat dg matahari, ekor komet semakin panjang dan arahnya selalu menjauhi matahari.



Several examples of comets that have come into view and seen from the earth among others are as follows :

Beberapa contoh komet yg pernah muncul dan terlihat dari bumi antara lain adl sbg berikut :

a) Halley’s comet, appears every 76 years.
Komet Halley, muncul setiap 76 tahun.

b) Encke’s comet, appeared every 3 years.
Komet Encke, muncul setiap 3 tahun.

c) Ikeya-seki’s comet, appeared in 1965.
Komet Ikeya-seki, muncul pada tahun 1965.

d) Kohoutek’s comet, appeared in 1973.
Komet Kohoutek, muncul pada tahun 1973.

e) West’s comet, appeared in 1976.
Komet West, muncul pada tahun 1976.

f) Shoemaker-levy’s comet, appeared in 1993.
Komet Shoemaker-levy, muncul pada tahun 1993.
